Webinar on the practices of educational reforms in different countries was conducted

The assessment of the state of educational system in Russia in late 90’s, historical and socio-economic context of conducting educational reforms in Russia along with a presentation of their outcomes and experience – all these points are reflected in the recently issued book “Audacious Education Purposes”. It summarizes and compares practices of educational reforms of 8 countries that were aimed at fostering 21 Century Skills among students.

In order to put forward such practices and the book its editor Fernando Reimers, a professor at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education, organized a webinar that was held on May 19–21 2020.

Igor Remorenko, rector of Moscow State University shared a summarized experience of educational reforms in Russia. He spoke about the objectives that the team of reformists pursued, the track record of reforms, and what was managed and failed to achieve on the way to the new educational standards.

In conclusion of the event participants held a discussed how the experiment with distance learning during the COVID-19 outbreak will affect schools, teachers and students in the future.
